Arrrrgggghhhh!!!!
Why do I listen to political stuff? It makes me crazy what is happening within our country and I just want to scream sometimes! As many of you may imagine by some of my earlier posts I do not agree at all with the stimulus package. I just wanted to give you a few statistics on the stimulus package...
With the current 800 billion stimulus every person in poverty could receive $22,000 or EVERY person (man, woman and child) in the country could receive $2700. And much of this money that is supposed to help us through this recession will not be available to be used for 2-3 years! How is that going to help the country NOW? Funny how that money will be used for projects right before re-election. The next big question is who will pay this huge credit bill(that we owe to the Chinese)? That's right-- look into your little ones faces and that is who will pay our debts. Did you know that as a country we now owe more than we possess in wealth? That's right-- our debts to foreign debtors outweigh the wealth of every person in the United States. I encourage everyone to write your local people in the Congress and the Senate and tell them, "no!!!" on this package. You may say that you don't have time or you're not interested, but what happens within our government will directly affect each of us and our children.

Just creepy
Even though I disagree with our new president on many levels I respect the office he holds and teach my children to respect him though our views (political and otherwise) differ greatly. But, this is just plain creepy! I pledge to do all I can not to let these people in my living room via the television-- Ha!

Our light
One Tiny Candle
Determined to defeat daunting darkness,
I feverishly tried to load it into buckets—
Carried, dumped, loaded again Until I collapsed, exhausted.
Darkness stood undiminished.
I wept in frustration,
Proven powerless, my task impossible.
A friend appeared
Holding one tiny candle, one flickering flame.
I gasped as that wee speck of light
dispelled darkness.
I threw my bucket far away and ran for candles.
My friend's candle lost no light by lighting mine.
We two passed our flames to candle after candle.
Each tiny flame ate hungrily, voraciously, big gulps of
darkness,
Replacing it with shimmering light.
This effort not exhausting, but joyful!
And I, a child of Light
Recognized at last my one true task. (Darla Isackson)
I thought that this was beautiful. We all have our difficulties and ups and downs in life. I think sometimes we are so busy shoveling out the darkness we forget how to expel darkness in our lives. It is His light that allows us to find light in our lives-- That is the purpose of the atonement of Jesus Christ. He knows and has experienced all that we face and only in His hands can we overcome.

A day in the life...
I have been thinking that I really need some help on how to spruce up my blog. So, if I have any volunteers to give me a blog tutorial let me know :) Words are no problem for me-- I always love to run my mouth written or orally, but I am just not that blog savvy.
Heidi Keck from church has asked me to teach a coupon class during a Relief Society retreat in a few weeks and I can't believe how excited I am! I love saving money-- it is like a sport to me-- how much can I save?! So, being able to share that with other people is thrilling... I think some of my best deals of the week were from Walgreens. They had make up 75% off and then Buy 1 Get 1-- with coupons I bought 10 Revlon and Almay lipsticks for $1.50. I saved over $81. Ashley asked when I got home, "what are you going to do with all that lipstick?" I guess I will start to look like the Joker! Ha! No really-- it is nice in gift baskets and stuff like that. Earlier in the week I did some CVSing and they had some extra bucks deals and I managed to get 8 packages of maxi pads, kid's Tylenol, bandaids, candy (for movie night with the girls), several boxes of wipes (which I always need) and some other things for about $3. I had to pay a little because the clerk told me that I had money left over when I didn't
:( What will I do with all those maxi pads? Give them to my mom and sisters-- I am sure all you guys out there wanted to know all about that! Just being a good sister, daughter and friend!
If you are looking for deals on diapers and wipes Rite Aid has an awesome deal going on until Saturday. You can buy them and give as shower gifts even if you don't have little ones in diapers. Huggies Jumbo or Supreme diapers are on sale for $9.99-- buy 2 packs and then buy 2 packs of wipes ($3.69). Use the coupons in this past week's paper (1/11/09) for $1.50 off diapers and $.50 off wipes. Great things that kids say...
My kids come up with the greatest things. Ellie is dying to know exactly how the doctor is going to get the baby to come out. I told her where the baby would come out and that the doctor would help, but that isn't enough for her-- she wants to know how that baby is going to get out. I guess that makes sense considering the size of everything (without going into specifics). And Hannah announces the other evening, "Mommy 12 year olds sometimes have babies. I don't want to have a baby when I'm 12." Well, thank goodness!!! I don't want her to have a baby at 12 either! The funniest part was Ellie's knowing look and head nods, because she knew all about 12 year olds having babies-- Ha! We went on to talk about how it is much better to have a baby after you are married with a husband, so that your husband can help you with everything and be a daddy to the the baby. I also said that we want to be married in the temple first, so we can be together as a family forever before we have children. They both agreed with me quite fervently... Where do they hear these things??? Riley is at the age when every word she says is adorable. I call her Rileyroo as a nickname and I heard her today talking about herself as Rileyroo... And she calls Ellie by the nickname I call her-- Elliebelle. She will yell upstairs to Ellie, "Elliebelle you comin'?" It is absolutely adorable-- Or when she says, "I precious." Of course you are precious little one! They keep me on my toes and melt my heart!

Movies with the girls...
Yesterday I took Hannah and Ellie to see High School Musical 3 at the $1.50 movie in Rock Hill. I have only seen the first High School Musical, which I thought was cute and clean and the girls have seen it many times. I heard from a friend that High School Musical 3 was cute and fun also, so we went to see it. Overall, it was a really sweet movie for the girls and pretty cheesy in parts for me. I couldn't believe that there was a couple that looked to be in their 60's sitting behind us that came together with no children to see the movie. Not a date movie choice for me and I know Ashley would never agree to go to a movie like that for fun! I have to admit that I think Zac and Vanessa are a super cute couple... My only beef with the movie was that the girls showed a little too much skin-- the skirts were a little too short and I did see some cleavage. Otherwise I thought it was clean and fine for kids. My hesitation with movies and TV shows like this is how the stars portray themselves off screen. My children grow to idolize these characters-- Hannah wants to sing just like Gabriela when she grows up-- And when they change from harmless teenage heart throbs to another Hollywood star willing to do whatever it takes to make it to the top I grow wary of the message that this sends to my girls. I guess that is the way the world is today, but they are young and I want to keep that innocence and purity from the world as long as possible. We don't have cable so they have never seen Hannah Montana and Camp Rock, which I understand are also pretty clean, but I like that they are still little girls and haven't entered that teenage world. They do like Hannah Montana and always request Hannah Montana stuff. But, I don't like them to have Hannah Montana things because of all I hear in the media about her changing her persona from teenage pop Disney girl to Hollywood diva (sounds a lot like Brittany Spears to me). I am not sure that Vanessa Hudgens is much better after her naked phone pictures scandal. So, what is a mom to do... I guess I will keep being a hypocrite and let them enjoy High School Musical but not Hannah Montana. Any other comments from the mothers out there. What do you think? Do you have this same dilemma?
