That's my sleepy husband after Thanksgiving... And me with my girls in front of the Christmas tree-- Cute huh??? Gotta love Cici's-- cheap and the kids don't complain.

Why politics drive me nuts!!!
This is my first post, and I am sure that anyone reading this blog probably knows me quite well, but for the one other person reading-- I am a stay at home mother of three beautiful girls. I love reading, doing family stuff, traveling (although that is not really happening with small kids), some craft stuff, shopping sales (don't shop unless it is on sale real cheap or a necessity), hiking (as long as it is pretty easy hiking or breathtakingly worth the strenuous walk), running my mouth, family history (genealogy), and listening to conservative talk radio. I come by the conservative talk radio stuff pretty honest-- my dad started listening to Rush Limbaugh when he went national back in the late 80's early 90's. And my husband has always been a political junky-- along with the rest of his family. I think life would be much easier if I didn't care at all about political issues or current events, but I find myself drawn to the craziness that now exists in the political and public arena. I also want to make the world a little better for my children and grandchildren and what happens within the White House, Congress, Senate, State Houses and courts throughout our nation has a direct impact on my children's future.
The other big thing that influences every aspect of my life is that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or as most people know us-- a Mormon. My mother joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was a baby and my dad joined when I was a little older. I am grateful for my membership in the church and for my personal relationship with Jesus Christ, my Savior. I am happy to answer any questions that you may have about our beliefs.
Our beliefs have recently been thrown into the national arena with Mitt Romney's run for president and I applaud the many people who have been respectful and tolerant of our beliefs. There have been others who have not been so tolerant like Mike Huckabee, another presidential contender. I am saddened by how Mike Huckabee has misrepresented my beliefs and the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and used fear to further promote his political campaign. I am a staunch conservative and find his views on many issues far from conservative. He raised taxes on many occasions as the governor of Arkansas, he was known for shortening prison time and pardoning many hardened criminals and his idea of foreign policy is do unto others and sit and wait. Sure, I applaud his stance on abortion and gay marriage, but I am tired of paying more taxes because of big government-- if I want to pay more taxes I will vote for Hiliary, John or Obama. If given the choice of Huckabee or Obama for president then I will have to sit this one out. I cannot in good faith vote for a man who thinks that I am going to hell, because I am a member of a cult. I believe in a loving God who wants the best for all his children no matter what church they attend. The prophet of our church, Gordon B. Hinckley, always says of our church, "bring all the good you have and let us add to it." He always stresses kindness, love, tolerance and understanding for all people regardless of their religious beliefs, skin color or the language they speak.
If Mike Huckabee really has nothing to hide then why not release all of his sermons from his years as an ordained Baptist minister. But, I think that if he were to release all those sermons we would find that his prejudices lie not just against the Mormons, but also with other groups within this country. I don't think that Governor Huckabee has a chance of winning going up against Barack Obama, but that is for another entry on another day. For now I have gotten my ire against him off my chest and I feel better. Vote Mitt!!!!
